Armed robberies on roads in the country are common. Violent crime in the capital is common even in daylight, particularly around the “kilometre 5” bus station.
Visits and stays with the Pygmy communities are probably the biggest draw for the country’s few tourists.
Murder, robbery, kidnapping, and other violence are serious risks, including in the capital. Large areas of the country are controlled by armed groups.
